Purple heron in the Southeast Regional Park

Quercus magazine cover, may 2015The Quercus magazine published in its issue of May 2015, an article by the Southeast Regional Park, in collaboration with the association Naumanni on the evolution of the purple heron in the southeast of Madrid during the period 2002-2012. The first breeding pairs settled in this area in 1991 and the positive trend is due to the greater availability of suitable places to establish breeding colonies after the abandonment and naturalization of former gravel pits distributed by the regional southeast, now converted into ponds and lagoons.
